2011 Fourth Session of the Second Expert Committee on Energy Efficiency Labeling and Alliance of Trustworthy Enterprises Annual Meeting Convened

On November 3, 2011 in Kunming, the China Energy Label Center of the China National Institution of Standardization (CELC) convened the 2011 Fourth Session of the Second Expert Committee on Energy Efficiency Labeling and Alliance of Trustworthy Enterprises Annual Meeting.
The meeting was attended by Jin Minghong, the deputy director of the Office of Energy Conservation within the NDRC's Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection. Almost 140 people participated in the session, including experts from the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA), the China Household Electrical Appliance Research Institute (CHEARI), the Guangzhou Vkan Certification & Testing Institute (CVC), the Hefei General Machinery & Electrical Products Inspection Institute, the China National Computer Products Quality Supervising Test Center, the International Copper Association (China), the Beijing Office of the Energy Foundation, and the China Quality Supervision & Test Center for Gas Appliances, as well as member representatives of the Alliance of Trustworthy Enterprises.

The meeting was chaired by the deputy director of CELC, Wang Ruohong. The leaders of the competent departments presented keynote speeches on China's energy situation and planning, the important role of energy efficiency labeling and the focus of future work, and other issues. Assistant to the director of CELC, Dr. Cao Ning reported on the progress and results of energy efficiency labeling work in 2011, analyzed related problems that need solving, and put forward the work plan for 2012.
Furthermore CELC presented special reports on the situation of energy label registration, the implementation plan for regulation of super energy-efficient products, and the 2011 plan for special investigation of the energy efficiency labeling market, in addition to conducting special discussions on the situation of energy efficiency labeling work, the implementation plan for regulation of super energy-efficient products, and other topics.
The energy efficiency labeling program has been in place for over six years, during which time it has played an important role in standardizing and raising the competitiveness of China's energy-saving product market, improving the energy efficiency level of related products, promoting energy-saving technological progress among enterprises, and actively responding to green trade barriers. Under the leadership of NDRC, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA), and other authorities, CELC will continue to complete all 2012 energy efficiency labeling work strictly according to plan, playing an ongoing role in saving energy and reducing emissions under China's 12th Five-Year Plan.
